Woman Killed In San Rafael Crash Identified

Norma Jean Nixon, 83​, died in a solo vehicle crash​ in her driveway in San Rafael.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Authorities have identified a woman killed Sunday evening in a solo vehicle crash in her driveway in San Rafael.

Norma Jean Nixon, 83, was driving down a long paved driveway at her home in the 300 block of Locust Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle, drove off the road and crashed into a residential structure, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

The crash was reported around 5:30 p.m. Nixon was the only occupant of the vehicle, and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

A forensic postmortem exam and toxicology tests are scheduled for Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.

"The Marin County Sheriff's Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our best wishes and condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Nixon," Chief Deputy Coroner Roger G. Fielding said in a statement.
