Armed Robbers Smash & Grab At San Ramon Jeweler: Reports

Witnesses saw at least seven armed robbers hold up Heller Jewelers in City Center in broad daylight in front of dozens of shoppers.

SAN RAMON, CA – San Ramon police are investigating a smash and grab armed robbery at a City Center Bishop Ranch jewelry store that took place Friday in broad daylight.

Witnesses told reporters they saw at least seven masked robbers run into Heller Jewelers with guns at around 2:45 p.m. Friday, in front of dozens of shoppers. Witness footage uploaded to social media shows robbers storming into the storm, pointing a gun at a security guard, holding a guy against a wall, using hammers to smash a display case, and then running out to jump into an orange Dodge Charger and a white Jeep Cherokee. Witnesses saw a third getaway vehicle, according to CBS News.

San Ramon police have told KTVU and CBS that no one was injured and an investigation is ongoing. So far no suspect information has been released. Patch has reached out to the San Ramon Police Department for further information. The managers of Heller Jewelers, a family-run store selling high-end jewelry, also declined to comment. The store was closed to the public Saturday, according to KTVU.

Nearby witnesses expressed deep concern to reporters. Erin Nelson, the acting general manager of the Williams-Sonoma store next door to Heller, told CBS that she locked both doors and moved about a dozen patrons into an area in the back of the store designated for an active shooter.

“You had to do a double take… it was definitely shock,” Luca Zanet, the general manager of the nearby Delarosa pizzeria, told CBS. “This is not the place for this.”
