I had lunch with the coolest chick I know today, she even paid for it. Buying my lunch is not why she is cool though. This woman is awesome because she was a college educated working mom to three kids before that was common. She owned her own successful business for 20 years. She has traveled the world. She has made her own movie about her life and written her own, soon to be published, memoirs. She has spoken up for women's rights and marriage equality when those were uncomfortable subjects. She has close relationships with her 4 grandchildren and her grand children's spouses and her 5 Great-grandchildren. She loves art, theater and books. She is so interesting to talk to I was almost late getting home to let my babysitter go. She makes me laugh, cry and think. She continues to seek knowledge from the world and really wants to know what is going on with the people in her life.
Who is this amazing person? My dear Grandmother-in-law Estelle. My own grandmother passed away last year. I loved my own grandmother very much and so Estelle fills a special place in my heart. It's just a coincedence that at 86 years old, she happens to be the coolest chick I know.
