Country Club Elementary and Windemere Ranch Middle School are visited by "Henry the Heron" and Author Sondra Perry

Country Club Elementary and Windemere Ranch are visited by "Henry the Heron"!

On June 6th, I had the pleasure of reading the last few pages of, “The Most Unusual Pet Ever, Henry our great Blue Heron and his adventures”, to three 1st grade classes at Country Club Elementary. It’s such a treat to see the kids come to the realizations that this 4-foot tall bird, with a wing span of 6-feet, when in flight, lives in the same town they do, San Ramon. This guy is as tall as they are! These kids are also quite smart...they keep their pet fish...indoors! Away from the resident great blue heron!

Thank you for having us Ms Kim Berry! Henry and I wish you all a wonderful, nature filled summer!

Last Tuesday, I met 3 classes of 6th graders from Windemere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon. Many of the students are already aspiring writers. In addition to sharing the story of Henry, we also talked about “becoming an author”, and the steps you go through to turn your story into a book. It was a very fun afternoon!  I encourage them, and all students this summer, to volunteer, participate, observe, explore, have fun, continue writing and continue learning, something-anything! Thank you Ms Kirstin Souza for inviting us!

Remember to keep an eye out for Henry and let me know where you spot Henry, or any great blue heron!
