Henry the Heron, a San Ramon Resident

One of the many joys we get from living here in San Ramon is the abundant wildlife we get to observe and listen to everyday!

Sometimes you don't even need to look for it-it comes right up to us. I'm thinking of the turkeys surprising us as we suddenly find a group of them right in the midddle of the very road we are DRIVING on!

Perhaps it makes us more cautious drivers...? Well, some of us have turkeys, or raccoons or that same bluebird that wakes us up every morning. Our backyard gets all of those critters, plus a GREAT BLUE HERON!

Yes, this big bird has been visiting us for nine years now-we have two ponds, wink-wink. In fact we consider him a pet, have named him Henry and wrote a book about him called, "The Most Unusual Pet Ever, Henry our Great Blue Heron and His Adventures". 

And he lives somewhere here amongst all of us, probably high up in a tree in someones backyard. So let me know if you spot him! His backyard family would love to see where he spends his nights.
