A Jazz Odyssey with Kay Kostopoulos

Renowned Black Olive Jazz vocalist, actress, and Stanford University lecturer Kay Kostopoulos returns from her New York residency for an imaginative musical journey through myth, poetry, and jazz.

Performing spoken excerpts from Homer’s Odyssey alongside jazz songs featuring heroines such as Delilah, Circe, Cleopatra, and Persephone, Kay brings these complex heroines, enchantresses, and mythological figures vividly to life.

Blending jazz standards, theatrical storytelling, Mediterranean rhythms, and Turkish finger cymbals, she creates a distinctive performance filled with drama, mystery, and musical discovery.

Kay’s performances have taken her to leading New York venues including Birdland, 54 Below, Arthur’s Tavern, and Bryant Park, as well as jazz festivals throughout the Bay Area.

For this special evening, she will be joined by acclaimed New York pianist and arranger John DiMartino and Bay Area saxophone legend Noel Jewkes.
