Cops Nab San Ramon Shoplifters With $2486 Worth Of Merchandise

Police said the two Oakley residents were arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, conspiracy, and grand theft.

SAN RAMON, CA — A man and a women who allegedly stole thousands dollars worth of merchandise from a grocery store in San Ramon were arrested Sunday, police said. An officer on patrol nabbed the duo after noticing their car, which was parked in the lot at Diablo Plaza, had expired registration. Police said the Tri-Valley Safeway store has been experiencing a recent rash of shoplifting.

The officer saw the pair leave the store with a basketful of merchandise, which they loaded into their car. The officer stopped the car and discovered that the male driver was on probation.

The officer recovered $2486 worth of stolen merchandise and the two Oakley residents were arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, conspiracy, and grand theft. They were both booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. Their names were not released.
