Driver Extricated From Car Following San Ramon Crash Dies

Fire crews used the "jaws of life" to extricate the man, who was later pronounced dead at the San Ramon Regional Medical Center.

SAN RAMON, CA — A driver died Thursday night after crashing into a tree in San Ramon, police officials said. The collision was reported on a center median located on Bollinger Canyon Road just east of Talavera Drive at about 10:30 p.m.

Police said San Ramon Valley Fire crews had to use the "jaws of life" to extract the 57-year-old man from the vehicle. He was taken to the San Ramon Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released.

Police closed a section of Bollinger Canyon Road for several hours following the crash. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
