Dublin Man Killed In San Ramon Crash ID’d

The fatal crash prompted police to close a section of Bollinger Canyon Road for several hours.

SAN RAMON, CA — A driver who was killed Thursday night after crashing into a tree in San Ramon has been identified this week. Officials with the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office said Dublin resident James Sutter, 57, was the driver and sole occupant of the car.

The fatal collision was reported on a center median located on Bollinger Canyon Road just east of Talavera Drive at about 10:30 p.m. Police said San Ramon Valley Fire crews had to use the "jaws of life" to extract the Sutter from the vehicle. He was taken to the San Ramon Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police closed a section of Bollinger Canyon Road for several hours following the crash. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
