East Bay Auto Theft Suspect Caught on Camera

Do you know this man? Police are looking for him.

LIVERMORE, CA- Police officials are seeking the public’s help identifying a man suspected of stealing an idling car from a Livermore driveway last Friday. According to police officials, security cameras in the 800 block of Alexander Street captured several photos of a man suspected of taking an SUV on Dec. 11. The suspect was seen exiting a white sedan just before the theft, according to witnesses and photos.

“Our 2007 Lincoln Navigator was idling in our driveway warming up for 12 to 13 minutes before a car made multiple passes by our house,” the victim told Patch by email. “The car pulled in front of our neighbor’s house with a female driver, who had a light complexion and light brown hair. The male then got out and jumped in the passenger side of our Lincoln Navigator, hopped into the driver seat and then took off. The suspects were driving a 2014-2015 white Toyota Camry with tinted windows, darker wheels and a factory spoiler. The male suspect, who stole the car, had a Raiders hat on and a broken finger on his right hand with a cast.”

According to Officer Traci Rebiejo, the stolen SUV was found on Dec. 13 in Concord.

The number of property crimes--home burglaries, car burglaries, packages stolen from doorsteps--in the East Bay has soared over the past year, frustrating residents and prompting police departments to urge everyone to “call early and often” if something seems amiss.

The problem with sharing photos or video is that frequently criminals come into the Tri-Valley to commit crimes from elsewhere in the Bay Area, the Central Valley and sometimes even farther away.
