Police say the theft is a good reminder to residents that it is imperative to lock car doors and avoid leaving valuables, or anything that could be perceived as valuable, inside cars.

In September, Pleasanton resident Jeniece Avalos shared video surveillance taken in the 4400 block of Sutter Gate that shows an unidentified woman opening Avalos’ unlocked car door. In the video, the woman briefly sits in Avalos’ passenger seat and can be seen rummaging around the victim’s car before taking something and walking away to be picked up by a light-colored Prius.
