Hike and Thrive this Sunday with Kaiser Permanente

Join Kaiser Permanente for a special hike led by Save Mount Diablo at the Sycamore Valley Regional Open Space Preserve on September 29th, beginning at 9am.

Sycamore Valley Regional Open Space Preserve includes two major ridgelines with rolling hills and valleys south of Mount Diablo, near Camino Tassajara Road.

The preserve offers amazing 360-degree views of the San Ramon and Tri Valleys. Easily accessible, the preserve contains a mix of grassland, mixed oak woodland and riparian habitats making fall a beautiful time of year for exploration.

Beginner Hike: This 2-mile hike takes you onto Short Ridge in the Park's northern unit, with a short, but challenging 20 minute walk to the top. The rewards are spectacular, 360-degree views including Mount Diablo.

Distance: about 2 miles roundtrip

Elevation Gain/Loss: 466 feet

 Time: 60 to 90 minutes

Moderate/Advanced Hike: This 5.8-mile hike traverses nearly every trail in the northern part of the preserve. In addition to the beginner loop hike, this route has three out-and-back sections with significant elevation change.

Distance: about 5.8 miles roundtrip

Elevation Gain/Loss: 1000 feet

Time:  90 to 120 minutes

To register, email diablokp@kp.org with the names and email addresses of those attending. This hike is on a first come first served basis, as space and parking are limited. Plan to arrive by 8am for check-in and parking.

You do not need to be a Kaiser Permanente member to attend. Everyone is welcome.

Please note: Dogs are not allowed on this hike.

Directions: From I-680 in San Ramon, exit at Sycamore Valley Road and head east.  Sycamore Valley Road becomes Camino Tassajara. Continue on Camino Tassajara to Sherburn Hills Road and turn left. Park at the end of the road at Sycamore Valley Park. http://goo.gl/maps/NdoVg
