John T. Nejedly’s Cause of Death Could Take Weeks: New Orleans Coroner
The Contra Costa Community College District trustee died unexpectedly while attending a convention.

SAN RAMON, CA — It may take weeks to determine the cause of death for a governing board member of the Contra Costa Community College District, a spokesperson for the Orleans Parish Coroner said. San Ramon resident John T. Nejedly died last weekend while in New Orleans.
Orleans Parish Coroner spokesperson Jason Melancon said the autopsy has been completed and officials are awaiting toxicology results.
“The cause of death remains under investigation,” Melancon said. “It will take a few weeks to determine the official cause.”

New Orleans police officials declined to comment.
Nejedly was in New Orleans attending a convention of the Association of Community College Trustees when he died, according to a report in the East Bay Times.

John T. Nejedly was elected to the board in 1994, and was serving his sixth consecutive term, district spokesman Timothy Leong said. Nejedly represented Ward Four, which includes Blackhawk, Byron, Danville, Diablo, Discovery Bay, San Ramon and parts of Alamo, Antioch, Brentwood, Clayton and Concord.
Nejedly, who lived in San Ramon, is survived by his wife and three children.
