John T. Nejedly's Cause of Death Released by New Orleans Coroner

Breaking: The Contra Costa Community College District trustee died unexpectedly while attending a convention.

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon resident and Contra Costa Community College District trustee John T. Nejedly’s death has been ruled accidental, coroner’s officials said Tuesday. Orleans Parish Coroner spokesperson Jason Melancon said toxicology results show Nejedly died due to "multiple drug intoxication."

Nejedly was in New Orleans for the Association of Community College Trustees convention when he died unexpectedly in October of 2016. Officials quickly completed the autopsy and have been waiting for toxicology results since.

Nejedly was elected to the board in 1994, and was serving his sixth consecutive term, district spokesman Timothy Leong said. Nejedly represented Ward Four, which includes Blackhawk, Byron, Danville, Diablo, Discovery Bay, San Ramon and parts of Alamo, Antioch, Brentwood, Clayton and Concord. Nejedly, who lived in San Ramon, is survived by his wife and three children.
