Little League All Stars: San Ramon 10s Ride Offensive Outburst To Victory
San Ramon will play Salinda in the winners' bracket finale Monday.
The Star: San Ramon's offense shined brighter than the sun on this day. After managing three hits in its previous game, it pounded out 15 runs on 16 hits.
The Turning Point: After allowing Newark American to take a 3-2 lead in the home half of the third, San Ramon's offense woke up. It took the lead in the fourth with six runs and never looked back. San Ramon tacked on seven more in the fifth to invoke the 10-run rule.
The Quote: "We only got three hits in our last game," San Ramon coach Jeff Santos said. "Today we hit and kept hitting the ball hard."

Once San Ramon's offense woke up, the Newark American 10-year-old All Stars had no chance. It did lead at one point, even if it only lasted five batters into the top half of the fourth inning.
Trailing 3-2 after three innings, San Ramon erupted for six runs in the top of the fourth and seven more in the fifth, beating Newark American 15-5. The game was called after the bottom of the fifth because of the 10-run rule.
San Ramon will advance in Section 3 All Star Tournament and face Salida on Monday at 5:30 p.m., at Vallejo Mills Elementary School in Fremont.
"Hitting was the key (to victory)," San Ramon coach Jeff Santos said. "The boys came out hitting. Salida is a very good team; it will be a very tough game."
In particular, the first four hitters for San Ramon caused a lot of damage. Jeremy Santos, Jack Powers, Sam York and Zach Chalmers combined for eight of the 16 total hits and scored nine of the 15 runs.
Santos scored all three times he reached base, going 1-3 with a double; Powers' had two hits and scored three runs; York went 3-4 with 2 RBI and Chalmers smacked two doubles in his three at-bats.
Kris Whitney entered the game in fourth and chipped in two RBI singles.
"They were swinging at good pitches all game," Santos said. "They kept the runners moving all over the bases."
Matt Jew started on the hill for San Ramon and — like his brother in the 12-year-old game going on at the same time across town — turned in a solid outing. He needed only 50 pitches to get through his 3 2/3 innings of work, allowing three hits and an earned run, while striking out three.
Chalmers relieved Jew and fanned two of the four batters he faced. Whitney would give up two runs before recording the final out.
