Graffiti Threat Prompts Lockdown At Iron Horse Middle School
Police were called in to investigate the threat.

SAN RAMON, CA — Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon was placed on lockdown Thursday morning due to a graffiti threat, but the campus was reopened at 1:15 p.m. without incident.
The graffiti was discovered Thursday morning on a bathroom wall. It read “school shooting at 12 p.m." Police were called to investigate.
"They do not believe that the campus is in imminent danger, however, out of an extreme abundance of caution, we have placed the campus on lockdown until further notice," read a notice to families from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. "The San Ramon Police and the SRVUSD take these matters very seriously."

As noon approached, approximately 15 district personnel and police were stationed around the Iron Horse campus at various places to provide extra security as a precaution. At 1:15 p.m. the campus was cleared to reopen and the SRVUSD reported that police "determined that there is no identified credible threat."
Officers are scheduled to remain on campus for the rest of the day, and all students will be dismissed at the regular time, according to the district.

The district said it plans to debrief about the policies and procedures employed during Thursday’s lockdown to determine whether any modifications are needed.
The investigation into the threat is ongoing; no arrests have been publicly announced.
