Luz Gomez To Challenge Incumbent In San Ramon Council Race
Luz Gomez is a longtime San Ramon resident with a background in public health. She's running for the District 1 seat.

SAN RAMON, CA — Longtime San Ramon resident Luz Gomez is running for the District 1 San Ramon City Council seat.
Gomez said on her campaign website that she has served as the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's community engagement manager, chief of staff for Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia and South Bay Women, Infants and Children Program Director. She has also worked for Contra Costa County's Public Health Department, she said.

"With your support, I will use all my passion, talent, and experience to make District 1 a great place to raise a family, start a business and retire," she wrote. "Let’s do it together."
Gomez said her campaign priorities include protecting San Ramon's character as the community grows, reducing traffic, improving street safety and making healthier neighborhoods.

Gomez said moved to San Ramon from Colombia at the age of 15. She graduated from Carondelet High School and went on to get her undergraduate degree in community nutrition from the University of California, Davis and her masters degrees in public health from the University of California, Berkeley, according to her campaign website. She became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Gomez will go on to face incumbent Scott Perkins in this November's election, as DanvilleSanRamon.com reported.
