Mayor Dave Hudson Absent Indefinitely Due To Illness
Hudson fell ill upon returning from Washington, D.C., the city said. Vice Mayor Mark Armstrong will take over mayoral duties in the interim.

SAN RAMON, CA —San Ramon Mayor Dave Hudson fell ill on a recent trip to Washington, D.C. and will spend time recovering, Interim City Manager Steven Spedowfski announced Monday. In the interim, Vice Mayor Mark Armstrong will take on the duties of mayor. The exact nature of the illness, or a rough estimate of when he expects to return, are undisclosed.
“He is expected to return in the future,” Spedowfski said in an email. “We wish Mayor Hudson a speedy recovery and look forward to his return as soon as he feels better.”
Hudson, the longest-serving member of the current city council, comfortably won re-election to mayor against two challengers in November. He has served as mayor since 2020, and served on the city council for a total of 25 years.
