Meet Kaiser Permanente's Dr. Monica Cheong

Kaiser Permanente is set to open a new technologically-advanced 67,000-square-foot medical office this November in Bishop Ranch.

Dr. Monica Cheong is an OB/GYN currently caring for patients at Kaiser Permanente in Pleasanton. She will move her practice to Kaiser Permanente’s San Ramon Medial Offices this fall. Below, she shares why she became a physician and some of the services that will be available at Kaiser Permanente’s new San Ramon Medical Offices.

When did you know that you wanted to practice medicine?

I have always been interested in women’s health and family planning. Science came naturally to me and medicine was a natural extension. I attended Stanford University as an undergraduate where I did research with the Women’s Health Initiative, a long-term national health study. Being part of such a pivotal research study solidified my desire to become an OB/GYN.

Why Kaiser Permanente?

As part of my residency at UCSF, I worked at the Kaiser Permanente hospital in Walnut Creek. I was impressed by the quality of care given to patients and the collegiality among the physician..

When I was done with my residency in 2006, I knew Kaiser Permanente was the place for me.

Why Obstetrics and Gynecology?

I like that I am able to really to get to know my patients and be with them through amazing experiences like pregnancy and childbirth. I have delivered nearly 1,000 babies and each one is special.

I also have a focus on minimally invasive surgery, performing hysterectomy, fibroid and cyst removal laparoscopically.

What can patients expect at the new San Ramon Medical Offices?

As a San Ramon resident myself, I am very excited about our new medical offices.

Located at 2300 Camino Ramon in the Bishop Ranch office park, the location is really designed for convenience whether you are an employee working in Bishop Ranch or a local resident.

Services at the San Ramon Medical Offices will include: Adult and Family Medicine; Pediatrics; Women’s Health; Reproductive Health Services; Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy; Dermatology and Cosmetic Dermatology; and a Healthy Living Center.

With space for 42 providers and laboratory, pharmacy and X-ray services all under one roof, we really want the San Ramon Medical Offices to be a convenient and comfortable place for our patients to have their healthcare needs met.
