Officers Credited With Saving Life of Man Who Collapsed In San Ramon Gym
Fire officials told police the outcome likely would have been grim for the man had the officers not taken the aggressive actions.

San Ramon, CA — Three police officers are being praised after helping to save the life of a man who suddenly collapsed while on a treadmill at a San Ramon gym Sunday.
The medical emergency was reported at the ClubSport San Ramon at 350 Bollinger Canyon Lane at 2:40 p.m.

Corporal Tami Williams, who was at the gym exercising on her day off, and responding officers Matt Scully and Sophia Wrangham began CPR and used a defibrillator on the man until San Ramon Valley Fire personnel arrived to take over, according to police officials.
The man, who had gone into sudden cardiac arrest, was taken to the San Ramon Regional Medical Center for further treatment and is reportedly improving, according to officials.

On Tuesday, the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District recognized the lifesaving efforts of the officers. Fire Capt. Jon Sinclear told police the outcome likely would have been grim for the man had the officers not taken the aggressive actions.
“There is no doubt the medical assistance provided by San Ramon Police Officers, who were both on and off duty, played a significant role in saving the life of this individual, and for that they should all be commended,” Sinclear said.

Sinclair also credited the new San Ramon Valley 911 Communication Center that allowed the quick response.
