Park of the Week: Golden View Elementary Park

Sports fields, slippery slides and schoolyard games galore make Golden View Park a fun place for energetic youngsters.

One of San Ramon's biggest prides and joys is the city's amazing park system. Our city has a whopping 53 parks spread throughout our vast community, ranging from small neighborhood playgrounds to multi-acre, multi-feature parks.

Each week we'll be highlighting one of our city parks, showing you photos, listing park features, and telling you what's special about them. We have so many parks that it will take Patch more than a year to profile each of them. So if you have a special park you'd like featured next, let us know!

Athletic opportunities abound, with multiple basketball courts, a handball wall, and an extensive grassy soccer field.

In the back corner of the school's campus is a full-sized baseball diamond that often plays host to the San Ramon Valley Girls Athletic League and Little League teams on weekends.

In addition to basketball hoops and ball walls, the park's blacktop features outlines for popular games like hopscotch and dodge ball. A painted map of the United States on the blacktop adds some fun to learning geography.

Golden View also has a large playground area adjacent to the elementary school's portable classrooms. Kids can glide down the three colorful slides, monkey around on the bars or fly high on the playground's swing set, all of which are located in a tan bark-floored area offset from the cement blacktop.

A few picnic tables are situated near the playground equipment, great for watchful parents or a snack break.
