Racist Graffiti Discovered at San Ramon High School Under Investigation

Two cases of vandalism were found in bathrooms on campus.

SAN RAMON, CA — Police and school officials are investigating two reports of race-related graffiti recently discovered in bathrooms on the California High School campus in San Ramon, school officials said. The first incident was discovered last week and the second on Monday.

According to school officials, the words “white” and “colored” were found written above toilets on campus. Officials reported the incident to police. Principal Sarah Cranford notified Cal High parents of the incidents by email on Monday.

In the letter, Cranford said school officials will not tolerate harassment on campus and “strive to provide a culturally-responsive school environment where all students feel safe and can thrive.”

School officials say one student confessed to the first graffiti incident and faces disciplinary action. According to school officials, the police investigations are ongoing.
