Police say a suspect fled in a stolen vehicle, then escaped on foot. The suspect remained at large Friday morning.

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon police are searching for a suspect who fled in a stolen car Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday at around 3:38 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the parking lot of a medical center at 5201 Norris Canyon Road, near the San Ramon Regional Medical Center, according to Lt. Leysy Pelayo of the San Ramon Police Department. The suspect left in a gray Volkswagen Golf before officers arrived at the location.

A San Ramon officer spotted the Golf at the Crow Common Shopping Center and attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop, but the driver did not stop, Pelayo said. Officers ended the pursuit, and later found the car abandoned on Norris Canyon Terrace. Officers determined that it was stolen out of San Jose, and Pelayo said the stolen vehicle report included a mention of knives.
