Teen Driver Who Sheared Off San Ramon Fire Hydrant Surrenders to Police
Police say thousands of gallons of water were lost following the hit-and-run crash on Fourth of July.
San Ramon, CA— Police say a driver who sheared off a fire hydrant in San Ramon on the Fourth of July during a hit-and-run collision has turned herself in.
According to police, the collision occurred at about 4 p.m. on the corner of Norris Canyon Road and San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Police and fire officials responded to control traffic and stop the flow of the gushing water.

"When a hydrant is sheared off, roughly 1,000 gallons of water are lost per minute," police said.
Police said the 18-year-old female driver turned herself in Tuesday afternoon. Police did not release the suspect's name.
