San Ramon To Host Earthquake Swarm Q&A With Seismologist, Fire Chief, Mayors

Residents will receive presentations from a UC Berkeley seismologist, the SRVFPD chief, and local leaders about the recent swarms.

SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon Chamber of Commerce is hosting a town hall event on the San Ramon Valley earthquake swarm. Since November, San Ramon has seen over 300 earthquakes, including a 4.2 in early February.

The event, entitled "San Ramon Valley Earthquake Swarm: What Do We Know and What Can We Expect?" will feature presentations by:

  • Dr. Angie Lux, a seismologist and project scientist of the UC Berkeley Seismology Lab who specializes in earthquake early warning systems
  • San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Chief Jonas Aguiar on earthquake preparedness

The event will also feature remarks from San Ramon Mayor Mark Armstrong, Danville Mayor Newell Arnerich, and Contra Costa County Supervisor Candace Andersen. There will be a period for audience questions.

The talk will take place Friday, Feb. 27 from 10:30 to 12 p.m. at San Ramon Community Center's Fountain Room at 12501 Alcosta Boulevard. See hereto sign up for the free event.
