San Ramon Mayor Dave Hudson Suffered Stroke, Family Says

Hudson suffered a stroke but is "doing well," his family told city officials.

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon Mayor Dave Hudson has suffered a stroke, Interim City Manager Steven Spedowfski shared Tuesday.

"This morning I received permission from Mayor Hudson’s family to release the nature of his illness, Mayor Hudson suffered a stroke. He is doing well and currently in recovery. I don't have any further updates at this time," Spedowfski wrote in an email.

On Monday, Spedowfski said that Hudson fell ill upon returning from a trip to Washington, D.C. and will spend time recovering. Vice Mayor Mark Armstrong will assume the duties of mayor in the interim.

Hudson, the longest-serving member of the current city council, comfortably won re-election to mayor against two challengers in November. He has served as mayor since 2020, and served on the city council for a total of 25 years.
