Born and raised in San Ramon, local professional featherweight boxer Kyle "Masanting" Lacanlale extended his flawless record to 9-0 last Saturday night, capturing the vacant UWBC North American Title in dominant fashion at the Thunder Valley Casino Resort.

In front of an energetic crowd, the 22-year-old undefeated fighter secured the championship belt via a sharp 3rd-round TKO, unleashing a precise body combination that forced the referee to step in and stop the bout.

For Lacanlale, first and foremost grounded in his faith, this victory marks a major milestone in a journey deeply rooted in the San Ramon community. His academic and athletic path began right here in local classrooms and sports programs—attending Coyote Creek Elementary, Gale Ranch Middle School, and Dougherty Valley High School, where he competed proudly as a San Ramon Wildcat in local athletics. Demonstrating the ultimate balance of faith, brains, and brawn, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from California State University, East Bay, and is currently completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) while climbing the professional boxing ranks.

Behind Lacanlale’s rise is a tight-knit corner anchored by strong local roots and expert leadership. He is guided by his head coach and father, Lyndon Lacanlale, who has trained Kyle since he first picked up gloves as a young boy in San Ramon. His technical preparation and fight readiness are honed alongside Development Coach Tony Gabucan of Milpitas Boxing, while Strength Coach Bryant Sharifi of Perform for Golf oversees the elite physical conditioning required to compete at the championship level. Crucial corner support and fighter safety are expertly handled by veteran cutman Ali Benjamin of Benjamin's Boxing.

Complementing his professional corner is a powerful support system at home and in the stands. Anchored by the unwavering love of his mother Bobbie, sisters Karyss and Kayla, and girlfriend Jackie, alongside a passionate fan base that turns out for every bout, Kyle enters every match backed by an unbreakable community that fuels him through every grueling camp and fight night. Together, that relentless work ethic, family bond, and dedicated support team paid off in a massive way on the big stage.

Saturday’s championship bout was Lacanlale's biggest test to date, but he dictated the tempo from the opening bell, using a crisp jab to control distance and set up hard power shots. In the third round, he seized his moment, landing a decisive fight-ending sequence to capture his ninth consecutive victory and his first major professional belt.

With a pristine 9-0 record, an MBA in progress, and a regional title now around his waist, the San Ramon native is rapidly positioning himself as a serious contender to watch on the national stage.

Congratulations to Kyle, Head Coach Lyndon, Coaches Tony and Bryant, Cutman Ali, Joey, Daniel, and the entire Team Lacanlale family on bringing the UWBC North American Championship home to San Ramon!
