1. 53 San Ramon Students Named 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists (patch.com) — San Ramon families can celebrate 53 local high schoolers being named 2027 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, including students from California High and Dougherty Valley. They're among the top one percent of U.S. seniors, now eligible for $2,500 National Merit awards plus potential college and employer scholarships.
   

2. California's big plays helps end Santa Teresa's long regular season win streak (mercurynews.com) — In San Ramon High's football team used big special-teams and passing plays to hand Santa Teresa its first regular-season loss in 17 games, winning 31-14. Quarterback Nicco Kovacs and playmaker Jake Hamilton led the way, while coach Danny Calcagno says the young Grizzlies still need a sharper run game before upcoming road tests.
   

3. 'A lot of reflection': Tri-Valley prepares to mark 25 years since 9/11 (danvillesanramon.com) — San Ramon residents play a visible role in the Tri-Valley's 25th anniversary remembrances of 9/11, from founder Mike Conklin of Sentinels of Freedom to former mayor Bill Clarkson and local hero Tom Burnett. Ceremonies in Danville, Pleasanton and Livermore aim to preserve memories, honor veterans and first responders, and engage younger generations with the attacks' lasting impact.
   

4. Photos: Dennis Mitcheltree Releases UNDOCUMENTED LANGUAGE Single (broadwayworld.com) — San Ramon jazz fans can catch saxophonist Dennis Mitcheltree at Meyhouse Jazz on October 10 as part of his tour for the new album Seeing Red. The politically tinged project explores emotion and connection through an experienced quartet, with other Bay Area stops in San Francisco and Oakland before the San Ramon performance.
