San Ramon Students Named U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates

Four San Ramon students and eight other Tri-Valley students were nominated for the prestigious, invitation-only distinction.

SAN RAMON, CA — Four San Ramon students were selected as candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars program, a U.S. Department of Education, invitation-only program honoring students demonstrating exceptional academic ability. Only 161 U.S. students are selected as Presidential Scholars, who are invited to receive medals at a White House-sponsored ceremony.

To be eligible, students must be seniors graduating this spring with exceptional scores on the SAT or ACTs, or recognized for achievements in the arts or STEM.

The four San Ramon candidates are:

  • Jane Xiang: Dougherty Valley High School
  • Arya Kanamathareddy: Dougherty Valley High School
  • Nirvik Kasula: Dougherty Valley High School
  • Aaditya Kumar: Dougherty Valley High School

They joined eight other candidates from the Tri-Valley:

  • Ryan Lee: Dublin High School
  • Emily Fu: San Ramon Valley High School
  • Ryan Fu: Amador Valley High School
  • Brandon Kong: Foothill High School
  • Blanche Li: Monte Vista High School
  • Yilin Liu: Amador Valley High School
  • Daniel Nie: Amador Valley High School
