“We applaud our community leaders for acting as role models for our students on Read Across America Day,” said Superintendent Mary Shelton. “This day is a nationwide reminder of the importance of reading to our children. This small act can instill a joy of reading in our young people that will last a lifetime.”

Read Across America Day, which celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the joys of reading, inspired millions of readers nationwide, both young and old, to pick up a book and read. To honor Dr. Seuss on his birthday, SRVUSD held numerous reading parties at various schools in our district to help create a nation of readers and explore all fun and exciting places we can go with reading!
