Second Arrest Made in Early Morning Copper Theft at San Ramon Valley High School
Search of suspect's home turns up more wire, accomplice

Detectives with the Danville Police Department have arrested a second suspect in connection with the theft of copper wire at San Ramon Valley High School this morning.
Lt. Allan Shields said that following the early morning arrest of Damon Carthen, a search was conducted at Carthen’s home in Alamo. Shields said the search uncovered a further quantity of copper wire and another individual believed to be involved with the thefts.

Arrested at the scene was Jason Sprague, 38, of Alamo. Sprague was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, where he was booked on charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Dangerous Drugs and being under the influence of drugs. Bond has been set at $25,000.
At this time, it is not known if the copper wire found at the Alamo address was also taken from the high school or a different location.

Police Chief Steve Simpkins said he was very pleased with the fast work by the Investigation Unit, “I’m very proud of the way this has been resolved, all the way around. Our officers acted quickly this morning to make an arrest, and our detectives followed through and helped us build the case, as well as arresting another suspect.”
