Assistance League® of Diablo Valley’s Operation School Bell®-Clothing is a nationally acclaimed, hands-on philanthropic program that has served the local community since 1994. The reality is that if students do not feel comfortable about their clothing, they do not engage in learning. Last year alone, 3,500 students in the local community received new clothes, all of which contributed to an improved classroom and campus experience.

Since 2006, Assistance League of Diablo Valley has forged a Corporate Partners alliance, where employee volunteers from local businesses and corporations become hands-on involved with and contribute financially to several of its philanthropic programs.

On Saturday, September 10, volunteers from Shartsis Friese, a San Francisco based law firm, gathered at Assistance League Offices and Annex in Walnut Creek to bag clothing for elementary school children in the local community. Chapter President Veronica Gant and Corporate Partners Co-Chair Pam Pitts greeted them with a synopsis concerning Assistance League’s 16 hands-on programs that serve clients who range from infants to seniors.

The Shartsis Friese volunteers filled 150 student-labeled bags, each with one sweatshirt, three white collared polo shirts, two pairs of pants or skorts for girls (upon request), six pairs of socks, and six pairs of underwear. These bundles were then transported to Shore Acres Elementary School, in Bay Point. (Go, Super Sharks!) When two “client-focused” entities interface, EVERYBODY WINS!
