SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon police investigated a shooting threat written onto a bathroom wall at Quail Run Elementary School Monday. Police said on Twitter that they did not find anything suspicious at the school, but officers remained on campus for the remainder of the school day.

The threat was reported at around 1 p.m. Monday, and about 5-6 officers arrived at the school to conduct a thorough security check of the school and surrounding area. During the investigation, police instituted a “secure campus,” meaning that doors were locked, all students were kept in the classroom, and no outside visitors were admitted.

The district sent three emails to families regarding the threat and investigation. According to district spokesperson Ilana Israel Samuels, the first communication was only received by staff, not parents.

"We did find out afterwards that there was some kind of glitch with the first communication going out, and parents did not actually receive it (but staff did)," she said. "We are looking into the matter to make sure it doesn't happen again. Fortunately, the 2nd communication had enough detail that it didn't seem out of context for parents and so all is ok on that front."

At about 1:45, officers said on Twitter that they did not find anything. The secure campus was lifted at 1:50 p.m., and students were dismissed as usual.

On Friday, San Ramon police were notified of a threat of violence at Dougherty Valley High School, though later said that it did not appear to be a credible threat. Samuels told Patch there is no evidence at this time to suggest that the threats were linked.
