1. Market Madness
All the market streets in northern Kwoloon are great for your Hong Kong tour. Note that most markets open only in the late afternoon and evening and streets might appear deserted during the morning hours. I liked especially the fruit and vegetable market as well as the gold fish market.
The clothes market I found to be very touristy and mostly selling fake products like T-shirts, ties, belts and sneakers. They might look good but not last very long.

Deal heavily with the prices and try to reach on tenth of the price they start dealing with.

One of my favourite places in Mong Kok
The fish market is exactly what the name suggests! There are hundreds (or even thousands) of fishes ready bagged for you to take them home. All sorts and colors!
Also shrimp-like creatures, which I suppose are food for the fishes and snails and all sort of marine little creatures...
I was very, very tempted to take one home but I went right after the bird flu and I thought I would not be able to pass it through customs. Shame....
3. Ladies Market
Dont bother going to the rest unless you want to buy cheap plastic sunglasses or yawn yawn.....crap.
Haggle, at least for half the price, and if the stallholder wont budge....ask for two for the same price or walk away! Simple as.
I bought some fantastic cashmere shawls and pashminas. But check out the government store prices too.....they are also cheaper ...come gift wrapped plus a guarantee! You can buy here after visiting Hong Kong sightseeing.
4. Visit the markets!
It is amazing to see all the people and things that are at these markets in Hong Kong!!! !
The Jade Markets were probably my favourite with lots of little trinkets and wonderful carvings etc. I really loved the little animals carved out of nuts, they are cute! :) The stall attendants will all try to sell you lots of things, but the stuff is mostly fairly cheap and cute. :) We brought lots of stuff back for friends here since they were cheap and small..
The Flower Market and Bird Market in Hong Kong (obtain more via Hong Kong city guide) were also nice places... I loved the way each street had a different thing for sale.
5. Going to Market
If you want to shop in Hong Kong, there is nothing like the market shopping that is scattered throughout the city. There is the Bird Market and the Flower Market where there is an assortment of birds and flowers (self-explanatory name). There is also the Ladies Market where you can find virtually anything from accessories to clothing. There is also the Temple Street Market where you can find jade and antiquities if you dare venture out at night. There is also the Jade Market if you are interested in buying jade. This only touches on some of well-known markets that are scattered throughout Hong Kong. Don't be afraid to bargain, it is expected!! And bargain lower than what you are willing to pay because 9 times out of 10 as you walk away, you will get your deal or something close to it!!! Don't forget to pick up your handy-dandy tourist map at the airport or a tourist office to highlight where to go shopping for your China travel deals!
