Smoke in San Ramon Likely From California Wildfires

Another Spare the Air alert has been issued as heat and smoke linger in the East Bay.

A Spare the Air alert has been issued for the Bay Area for Friday because smog is forecast to be at unhealthy levels, regional air quality officials said. The alert from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is the 18th this summer season.

Vehicle exhaust is the main source of Bay Area air pollution during the summer months, so air district officials are asking people to drive less, drive an electric vehicle or travel on foot, bike or transit. Smoke from the massive California wildfires has moved into the East Bay, according to fire officials. Smoke from a fire reported in Livermore near I-580 Thursday afternoon has also spread throughout the Tri-Valley.
