Suspect Arrested After High-Speed 680 Chase, 1 Suspect At-Large
San Ramon police say they had to stop the 680 chase because the carjacking suspect turned off their lights and was driving too dangerously.
SAN RAMON, CA — One suspect has been arrested following a high-speed chase on I-680 Saturday that caused a multi-vehicle accident, according to SRPD Chief Denton Carlson. A second suspect remains at-large as of Monday.
The incident started Saturday evening near Bollinger Canyon Road and Alcosta Boulevard, Carlson said in a Nextdoor post responding to several queries about a large police presence in the area. Officers located a vehicle allegedly stolen from Oakland via armed carjacking, and began to pursue the suspect. The chase continued onto 680 south, where Carlson said the suspect turned off the vehicle lights and started driving so dangerously that officers did not continue the pursuit.
After stopping, San Ramon officers continued south and came upon a four-vehicle accident near the Alcosta Boulevard offramp caused by the suspects. A report from Danville/SR Updates said that the suspect vehicle was on fire, though this has not been confirmed by the San Ramon Police Department or other agencies.

Eventually, police arrested a 20-year-old suspect from San Leandro who was hiding in a restaurant bathroom at the Gateway Center, Carlson said.
