An investigation led detectives to a pawn shop in Tracy.

SAN RAMON, CA — A woman is accused of stealing about $5,000 worth of jewelry and personal property from a 95-year-old San Ramon man, police officials said. According to San Ramon Police Lieutenant Denton Carlson, 61-year-old Mountain House resident Beryl Levy, who was employed as a medical technician at a San Ramon senior community, was caught on camera taking the victim’s property. Levy was arrested on Aug. 9 after surveillance video allegedly showed the woman enter the victim’s room and take property.

“During a follow-up search of the suspect’s residence in Mountain House, a large amount of potential stolen property was found but the victim’s jewelry was not located,” Carlson said. “Detectives continued their investigation and noticed numerous cash deposits into the suspect’s bank account from an ATM located in Tracy. When the went to the ATM, they saw a pawn shop nearby and spoke with the owner.”

Carlson said the pawn shop owner identified the suspect and the investigators were able to recover the victim’s missing jewelry. Levy has since made bail, according to police.
