- My name is Miranda, I’m a licensed Esthetician from California who has been in the industry for a couple of years. When I was growing up, I had horrible acne and it plagued my life and made me uncomfortable in my own skin. I tried everything medically and retail-esque available, and found relief years later. I took Acutane as a teen, and it cured the majority of my acne, but it can never fully cure all of it. I always knew that I wanted to go to beauty school, it had been my plan since I was a kid, but it wasn't until my senior year of high school that I realized that I wanted to focus on skin care and makeup. I enrolled in a local beauty school the fall following my high school graduation, graduated from there 6 months later, and headed to state board. I failed the test the first time (I was only 6 points from passing), because I was ill prepared by my teacher, and because I was so nervous. I went back and tried again a few months later after some more practice and knowing exactly what I was walking into, and I left with my license. I was thrilled, and excited to start my career. But I didn’t want to work in a spa or salon yet, I wanted to use my license and get a fun makeup job. I job hunted for a little while, but gave up and decided to take some time to myself. I had some personal tragedies, and had to move out of my parent’s home and in with my grandmother. I was forced to find any job I could, to support myself and my younger sister, and that’s when I was introduced to SalonCentric. I worked as a temp, and they hired me part time right after. I worked there for a year gaining knowledge, and meeting people. I ended up receiving training from a local Esthetician, and expanding my knowledge further. I realized that I am currently done with retail jobs, and that I want something stable in an office. But, my need to help people is still in full swing, and I don’t want my knowledge to go to waste! So the mission and goal of this blog is to help YOU. Ask your questions, request for me to show you treatments or makeup styles, I’m at your disposal. So here’s to the beginning. I will start posting treatments, and products, and maybe even do some videos. This blog is new so as of now it’s a work in progress, and your input and requests will help shape it into the amazing thing it will eventually be! So thank you and follow me for any info you may need!
