• Newport Beach jeweler who cheated clients out of Rolexes and diamonds gets five years in prison (latimes.com subscription) — A Newport Beach jeweler who admitted stealing more than $1.7 million from clients was sentenced to five years in state prison in a Santa Ana courtroom. Prosecutors say he took money and valuables for Rolexes and diamonds that were never delivered, and he has been ordered to repay the losses despite previously claiming innocence.
