Santa Ynez Valley High School Riders Win California Dressage Society Championship Titles (edhat.com) β Santa Ynez High School junior Bea Freels and local rider Olivia Moore just brought home top dressage championship titles, spotlighting the strength of the Santa Ynez Valley equestrian community. Training with Santa Ynez Horseback Riding School, they balanced schoolwork with demanding competition schedules to win multiple first-place awards at the California Dressage Society and USDF Region 7 Championships.

Esther Jacobsen Bates to Receive 2026 Leadership in Arts Award (noozhawk.com) β Longtime Santa Ynez Valley arts advocate Esther Jacobsen Bates will receive the 2026 Leadership in the Arts Award from the county Board of Supervisors on Oct. 6. Her work has brought arts programs into Santa Ynez Valley classrooms, strengthened local museums, and supported cultural groups that many valley residents know well.

San Marcos Girls Golf Takes Down Santa Ynez in Non-League Showdown (noozhawk.com) β Santa Ynez High's girls golf team fell to San Marcos in a windy nonβleague match at the Alisal River Course, 296β277. Local standout Mia Rocha led San Marcos with a 48, while several Royals teammates posted solid rounds as they tuned up for upcoming Channel League play against Righetti.

Power Off for 187 Amid Wind Advisory; More SCE Shutoffs Possible for Thousands (noozhawk.com) β Residents near the Santa Ynez Mountains and much of the South Coast are under a wind advisory and possible Public Safety Power Shutoffs through early Wednesday, with 187 customers already without power. Strong north winds could down tree limbs and disrupt electricity, so locals are urged to secure loose items, drive carefully, and check whether their address is on SCE's shutoff list.
