Supporters cite help catching stolen cars and dangerous drivers, while critics warn of mass surveillance and data privacy risks as councilmembers decide how long police should keep plate data.
3. Boeddeker and Saunders named Athlete of Week at SBART (keyt.com) — Santa Barbara's first Athletic Round Table luncheon of the year honored two standout local athletes, highlighting strong performances for Bishop Diego and Santa Barbara High. Football junior Sam Boeddeker and volleyball senior Blake Saunders earned Athlete of the Week after big early-season showings against regional opponents.
4. KSBB-CD Santa Barbara Goes Live With Silicondust ATSC 3.0 Certificate Authority (tvnewscheck.com) — Santa Barbara low-power TV station KSBB-CD, part of KEYT News Channel 3-12, has upgraded its NextGen TV broadcasts using new ATSC 3.0 security certificates from Silicondust. The move is meant to keep ABC, CBS, and local news channels reliably authenticated, even during emergencies, by relying on a robust cloud-based certificate system.
