Sexual Assault Response Team Awarded $236K Federal Grant for New Site in Santa Barbara (independent.com) — Survivors of sexual violence in Santa Barbara will soon have access to an expanded, more private SART facility in the city, backed by a $236,375 federal grant secured by Rep. Salud Carbajal. The Cottage Health–provided site will offer advanced forensic technology and wraparound support, strengthening countywide partnerships that already assist about 300 survivors each year. 
2. Santa Barbara City Council weighs new license plate camera system (ksby.com) — Santa Barbara's 12 license plate cameras have scanned more than 323,000 plates in the past month, and now the City Council is weighing a switch from Flock to a Verkada system the city would fully control. Supporters cite help catching stolen cars and dangerous drivers, while critics warn of mass surveillance and data privacy risks as councilmembers decide how long police should keep plate data.
3. Boeddeker and Saunders named Athlete of Week at SBART (keyt.com) — Santa Barbara's first Athletic Round Table luncheon of the year honored two standout local athletes, highlighting strong performances for Bishop Diego and Santa Barbara High. Football junior Sam Boeddeker and volleyball senior Blake Saunders earned Athlete of the Week after big early-season showings against regional opponents.
4. Stakeholders, Innovators Will Put Heads Together at Ocean Summit (noozhawk.com) — Santa Barbara will host the inaugural California Ocean Summit December 9–11, bringing scientists, policymakers, investors, and innovators together for ocean-health solutions. Locals can join free public programs at the Santa Barbara Public Library, a Blue Innovation Showcase at the Environmental Hub, and special UCSB Arts & Lectures events, including a live-scored David Attenborough screening.
5. KSBB-CD Santa Barbara Goes Live With Silicondust ATSC 3.0 Certificate Authority (tvnewscheck.com) — Santa Barbara low-power TV station KSBB-CD, part of KEYT News Channel 3-12, has upgraded its NextGen TV broadcasts using new ATSC 3.0 security certificates from Silicondust. The move is meant to keep ABC, CBS, and local news channels reliably authenticated, even during emergencies, by relying on a robust cloud-based certificate system.
