6 Guns, Ammo Seized From Convicted Felon: Police

The Bonny Doon suspect was arrested after calls of shots fired and an ax being wielded in Santa Cruz, officials said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA – After reports of shots fired on one Santa Cruz street, followed by a call from another street of a man wielding an ax, police finally caught up with and arrested a Bonny Doon man as the suspect in both Tuesday night incidents.

Santa Cruz Police Department officers responded at about 9:15 p.m. to numerous reports of a man with a rifle standing near a truck and shots fired on Western Drive. The subject took off before police arrival, however two empty 12-gauge shotgun shells were found on the road, the department said.

As officers were canvassing the Western area and interviewing witnesses, another call came in of a man reportedly wielding an ax on the 200 block of McPherson Street. Responding officers found a truck that matched the description from the Western Drive incident. No one was in the vehicle, however police said several firearms were visible, including a 12-gauge shotgun.
