Fatal Santa Cruz Stabbing: Police ID Man Arrested
A man was found near Depot Park early Sunday morning, nonresponsive after suffering multiple stab wounds, police said.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz police have arrested a man on suspicion of a fatal stabbing discovered in the early hours of Sunday morning.
David Douglas Cameron, 34, was arrested hours later on suspicion of murder and violating probation, Santa Cruz County jail records show. The District Attorney's Office had not filed charges as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.
His arraignment was set for Wednesday.

Joshua Newell, 33, was found unresponsive around 3 a.m. Sunday after suffering from multiple stab wounds, the Santa Cruz Police Department said in a news release. Officers rendered first aid in hopes to save his life, but the man later died at Dominican Hospital.
Newell had recently moved to the area from Colorado, police said.

Police received a description of the man leaving the scene and spotted Cameron in the 300 block of Cedar Street, according to the news release.
Investigators determined that the men got into a fight involving two women after spending two days working to corroborate witness statements and confirm facts, police said.
