SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrested on Tuesday several people in connection with the Tushar Atre murder and kidnapping case.

Atre, 50, was kidnapped in the early morning hours of Oct. 1 from his oceanfront Pleasure Point home and killed in a suspected robbery-gone-wrong. The sheriff's office will hold a press conference to release new details at a Thursday morning press conference, which can be livestreamed at 11 a.m. here.

KTVU reported Tuesday that a man in Michigan was arrested on suspicion of the charges. St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant for the man on behalf of Santa Cruz police, the station reported.

The man was booked into Macomb County Jail and is one of four suspects, KTVU reported.

Officials released videos showing three people approaching Atre's home, carrying a rifle and duffle bag. His body was found around 10 a.m. that same day after deputies went to the 24000 block of Soquel San Jose Road near the Summit and discovered his BMW SUV. He died from a gunshot wound.

In January, the sheriff's office released additional surveillance video and information about the killers' suspected path. The sheriff's office also announced members of the public upped a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect to $200,000 from $150,000.

Atre was the owner of Atrenet, a corporate website development company that has "been serving the web design and development needs of many of the most innovative and successful high tech companies in Silicon Valley since 1996," according to his LinkedIn account.
