Join the Santa Cruz Group of the Ventana Chapter of the Sierra Club for an evening talk with Leonie Sherman titled “Bicycling Across Cuba.” If you like travel adventure stories that include bicycling, salsa dancing, caves, and waterfalls, you don’t want to miss this event!

The slideshow will take place Thursday, July 16, at the Live Oak “Green” Grange (1900 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz). Doors open at 6:30pm for refreshments and social time, and the event will begin at 7:00pm.

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
In the summer of 2006, Leonie Sherman and Tanya Stiller rode bikes and occasionally hitch-hiked across Cuba. In six weeks they learned to salsa, suffered from heat exhaustion, were placed under house arrest and heardthe true story behind sexual assault in Cuba. Along the way Fidel got sick and they explored a little known eco-tourist haven with roaring waterfalls and immense cave systems. Come hear Leonie tell stories and answer questions about this rapidly changing island nation.
