Brian Turner, Poet and Veteran, Visits Santa Cruz County

He will read his poetry and share his stories on Friday in Aptos.

Brian Turner is an award-winning poet who is also a combat infantry veteran of the War in Iraq. He will read his poetry and share his stories on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7pm at the Erica Schilling Forum (Building 450) at Cabrillo College in Aptos.

Mr. Turner has been featured on National Public Radio, the PBS Newshour, and the BBC. He was raised in Fresno and joined the US Army serving a year in Iraq beginning November 2003.

Turner’s books of poetry are Here, Bullet and Phantom Noise and this year he published his memoir My Life as a Foreign Country, retracing his war experience.
