Celebrating World Marriage Day

Celebrate your marriage on February 19

Celebrate your marriage on February 19 with an afternoon retreat and renewal of vows from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. at the Villa Maria Del Mar overlooking the ocean in Santa Cruz. Sherry Cassedy, local author, speaker, lawyer/mediator, and lay marriage minister, will join Deacon Warren Hoy, Director of Life, Justice, and Charity for the Diocese of Monterey in presenting this nourishing retreat, also available by zoom.

Many people are not aware of World Marriage Day. It grew out of the marriage support ministry of the Catholic Church and is now a more widely recognized day to celebrate our nuptials as a collective anniversary. It falls on the Sunday nearest to Valentine’s Day, which is great timing. This year, it coincides with Super Bowl Sunday, February 12, but the retreat does not conflict with the big game

“Living Marriage: A Retreat for the Soul of your Marriage” will include an inspirational talk and practical tools, guided couple time, and a renewal of your wedding vows in the Villa's Chapel. Villa Maria Del Mar offers a perfect location for reflective time together, situated atop a bluff with expansive ocean views. Take this time for you and your partner's soul care and refreshment on your journey of marriage.
