Coronavirus: Santa Cruz County Implements New Restrictions
Santa Cruz County plans to implement social distancing and online public comment options for meetings.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Santa Cruz County announced Monday new restrictions and guidelines to assist residents while mitigating the potential spread of the new coronavirus at public facilities.
Public health officials recommend people keep six feet of distance between one another. So-called social distancing guidelines will be implemented at Board of Supervisors meetings and public counters, and the county may restrict the number of people in lobbies, Santa Cruz County said in a news release.
The county asks people to utilize online service options to avoid in-person visits.

“We are taking some common-sense steps to comply with the guidelines, and will update these measures as needed," said County Administrative Officer Carlos Palacios in the statement.

Online public comment options will also be offered for supervisors meetings. County workers will have more options to meet over the phone or online.
All county facilities will see additional cleanings and safety signs posted throughout, the county said. Jails and medical facilities will also have additional screenings.
County staff working in the field will ask about residents' health ahead of entering their home or facility, the county said.
There will be no walk-up building permit counter visits.
