Cyclist Dies In Fall From Santa Cruz Cliff

The fatal crash was Friday evening, officials said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A male bicyclist died Friday after he plummeted over a cliff in Santa Cruz along West Cliff Drive and David Way, according to authorities.

Police and fire department crews were called about 7:45 p.m. and found the injured man below the cliff's edge, the Santa Cruz Police Department said.

Medical aid was given, however, the cyclist subsequently was pronounced deceased, the agency said.

The man's name was not released by officials.

No foul play is suspected in the fatal accident, and the Santa Cruz police are investigating it as a solo-bicyclist collision. Any witnesses are asked to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department Investigations Section at 831-471-1131 or 831-420-5820.
